The picturesque town of Bandipur in Tanahun has officially launched its cable car service, further enhancing its appeal as a tourist destination.
The Bandipur cable car, which was recently completed, began its official operations on Thursday. Executive Director Kiran Pokhrel announced that the service received its TUV certificate for international technology and safety standards and has now commenced commercial operations.
Partial operations have been underway since April 13, but the cable car is now fully operational for commercial use. The installation and load testing of the cable car were completed about a year ago, according to the company.
Company Chairperson Ram Chandra Sharma confirmed that after thorough three-phase testing, the cable car received its commercial operation TUV certificate. “We prioritised safety and quality, and only opened the cable car for operation after all preparations were completed,” Sharma stated.
The cable car offers an adventurous experience, likened to climbing a 90-degree vertical cliff, and covers a distance of 1,700 meters from Dumre Bazaar to the temple in just 7 minutes.
Out of the 31 cable car cabins, 21 are designated for passengers while the remaining cabins will be used for transporting goods. The cable car operates daily from 6 am to 11 pm, making Bandipur Nepal’s newest cable car service provider.
This addition brings Bandipur in line with other Nepali locations that already have cable car services, including Manakamana, Chandragiri, Pokhara, Butwal, Dolakha, and Nawalparasi.
